Its gait is sharp, slightly quick with keen and watchful demeanor while good reach and drive. This bobtailed breed has short to medium, straight but harsh coat available in blue, blue and black, speckle and red colors.

When aroused against any suspect, their pricked ears erect upward shaping triangles, however in rest the ears would be set down. The overall expression is keen, watchful yet ready for action.

The breed of Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog was developed in Australia, bred to herd large cattle, and large herds of livestock. The breed is a result of multiple crosses between European herding dogs with Australian Dingo.

The first dog developed from such cross was named Timmin’s Biters. Further, these dogs were crossed with Scottish Smooth Collies to mute dingo characteristics, in a result the dog was easier to handle and produced born tailless in speckled red and blue colors.

This breed is said to be from same stock of Australian Cattle Dogs bred in 1830 and were called Halls Heelers.

Some of the documented history of this breed is held with FCI. This breed is recognized by ANKC, NKC UKC and other registries as a herding breed of dog.
